Psiri: Athens' Street Art & Nightlife District
Bars, murals and a scruffier, louder energy than the postcard streets nearby.
By day, Psiri is a grid of old workshop buildings and hardware stores, quietly interesting if you like street art — the murals here rotate and change more than almost anywhere else in the city. By night, it transforms into one of Athens' busiest bar districts, with tiny mezedopoleia and cocktail bars spilling onto the narrow streets.
Daytime Psiri
Wander for the street art, much of it politically pointed or just genuinely striking, layered over decades of old commercial signage. A handful of small design studios and vintage shops have moved into former workshop spaces, worth a browse if that's your thing.
Nighttime Psiri
This is where Psiri earns its reputation — small bars, live rebetiko (Greek blues) venues, and mezedopoleia that stay busy until late. It's louder and scruffier than Kolonaki or Plaka, and that's the point.
